Empowering
Eastern Indonesia
PROGRAMS
The project focuses on developing an integrated research platform that explores the richness and complexity of Eastern Indonesia through a multidisciplinary lens. By combining cultural, linguistic, historical, and religious studies, the initiative seeks to document and revitalize indigenous knowledge and traditions that are at risk of disappearing. This approach highlights the interconnectedness of belief systems, local identity, and historical memory, and encourages inclusive and respectful knowledge production rooted in the lived experiences of diverse communities.
In parallel, the project also addresses pressing contemporary issues, including socio-economic disparities, environmental degradation, and political fragmentation. Through field-based research, policy dialogue, and collaboration with local stakeholders—including religious leaders, traditional authorities, and grassroots communities—the project aims to empower local actors, promote environmental sustainability through religious values, and build peace by strengthening inclusive local governance. Each key focus area contributes to a holistic understanding of Eastern Indonesia’s challenges and potential.
